LAMDA CHS- Autumn Term '25- 9 Sessions

£382.50

Huzzah brings 1:1 LAMDA sessions to CHS.

Are you looking for a way for your child to develop crucial social skills, self confidence and receive internationally recognised grades? We've got something for you.

What is LAMDA?

LAMDA stands for the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art. They are one of the oldest Drama schools in the land and they decided it would be cool if progress in the arts could be graded in the same way in which playing a musical instrument is, so they created their awesome examinations for young people. What Huzzah loves about LAMDA is that it's an opportunity for your child to have personal attention from a highly skilled tutor: your child’s confidence and communication skills will soar.

LAMDA split the Dramatic Arts into these categories - Acting, Speaking Prose & Verse, and Public Speaking.

Which subject is right for my child?

You may know straight away what your child will want to work on, however no fear if not! This is something we can decide together in your little one’s first lesson. Here is a bit about each subject so you can be mulling over which would make your child’s heart sing.

Acting -  Your child will be given a LAMDA based text/scene to work on towards their exam. They will explore characterisation and show these scenes to an audience. They will really hone their imagination skills in these lessons as well as vocal clarity, motor skills, awareness of the body and confidence.

Speaking Prose & Verse- Your child will work on bringing poems and texts to life using their voice and their body. They will also delve deeper and learn how writers use words to show thought and how to hold focus on stage.

Public Speaking - Your child will research and write their own speech and present it to an audience. The main focus with this is helping your little one to engage an audience and work on techniques to support the voice.

What will my child do in their lessons?

After deciding which category of LAMDA they want to focus on, your child will work each week on the foundation skills to enable them to be confident in themselves and their abilities in the arts. They will have a LAMDA approved text to work with and when they are happy and confident with their chosen piece, will be entered into their first examination. Wahoo! Your child will be fully supported by our amazing Huzzah leader at all times and they will make sure that this experience is a fun, exciting journey of personal growth.

If your child has already started their LAMDA journey elsewhere, we will ensure that they are entered into the appropriate grade exam.

Will my child miss core subjects?

The wonderful administration at Chepstow House School will set a timetable that rotates the time of your child's LAMDA sessions to cause as little disruption to their school work as possible.

Fees

9 Private LAMDA Lessons - £42.50 a lesson when booking a block of nine in advance  £382.50

LAMDA will run for 9 sessions each term. The examination will usually be in the 10th week.

The examination fee is a separate cost, approximately £75 per exam. This will be paid when it is confirmed your child will be taking an exam. Please see our LAMDA terms & conditions for more information.

When will my child be ready to take the world by storm and take their exam?

Every child will take an examination from their second term onwards and no more than two per calendar year. However, what we have learnt is that every child is different, so we will keep you fully up to date with your child’s progress and anything that can be done between lessons to fully support your child on their LAMDA journey. When they are ready to bite the bullet, we will guide them through the easiest way to take their exam at school.

Please note, If you wish for your child’s LAMDA lessons to be discontinued, you must let us know a term in advance and in writing at Hiya@huzzahperformingarts.com . Please see our full LAMDA terms & conditions HERE
